This chronicler hails from one of the lost peoples of Barsoom. He will not reveal what forgotten city he came out of, but knowing the common practices of such communities, he can only have escaped at some jeopardy to himself. In any event, he never speaks in detail of his origin, adhering to a strict code of silence about his home.
It may be the result of the ancient culture in which he was reared, but his writings are most formal, even stilted. In my estimation, however, he is scrupulous in chronicling with as much accuracy and honesty as he can.
